A total of 13 people rose early today for our first Dawn Chorus Walk on the Reserve.
An early group started at 4am and were rewarded by the first recorded sighting of a Barn Owl at Darley and Nutwood.
The later group heard and saw a variety of warblers including numerous chiff-chaff, willow warbler, whitethroat and blackcap; as well as reed bunting, great spotted woodpecker, cormorants, kestrel, and a dawn fly-past of a pair of swans.
Our grateful thanks to all who helped, and especially to Jean and Dave Roberts for their skilled identification.
