Ten people braved a wet and cold evening, including four who are not on the Management Group.

Dave Winslow showed us round, pointing out the recent work done by the Derby Parks Volunteers in clearing more scrub, and the main proposals in the new Management Plan which is in press.

Features discussed included:

-    The future of the swamp

-     The siting of a small pond

-     Plans to clear about 5 scallopped areas in the scrub to the west of the main path

-     The siting of a fenced-off otter holt

-     The aim to maintain reduced scrub cover on the main grassland area of the site

-      Plans to treat the dense growth of alder saplings at the south end of the site, and the recent felling of mature          alders nearby by a group from the Wildlife Trust.

-      A proposal to produce an informative document on developing wildlife links with the neighbourhood
