Spring Bird Walk 2017

Paul Highman led 15 of us around the Nature Reserve on a cold bright calm morning, starting at 6 am.

A total of 30 species were seen/heard, including numerous warblers.

The highlights were a large flock of Sand Martins feeding over the river close to their nesting bank, and a magnificently coloured male Bullfinch in bright sunlight at the top of an ash tree.

Paul's knowledge and expertise was greatly appreciated.

Keith

PS: Paul could not record the number of each species as he was leading the walk. The following were sighted:

Blackbird Dunnock Mute Swan
Blackcap Great Tit Pheasant
Blue Tit Green Woodpecker Robin
Bullfinch Greenfinch Sand Martin
Canada Goose Grey Heron Starling
Carrion Crow Greylag Goose Stock Dove
Chaffinch Jackdaw Whitethroat
Chiffchaff Long-tailed Tit Willow Warbler
Collared Dove Mallard Woodpigeon
Cormorant Moorhen Wren

Just a reminder that Paul Highman will be leading the walk again this year. We meet at Mill View Gardens near the toll bridge at 6 am.

This morning there were sand martins, swallows, willow warblers and whitethroat to be seen.

Hope to see you there.

Best wishes,

Keith
